TESTIMONIALS
From a Graduation speech:
Over the past two years – and especially over the past week or so, I’ve become more familiar with many of you here. The day we arrived, Katharin suggested to us that we associate with those folks who we had not yet met at other levels of education. This recommendation turned out to be a very good one.
I really wanted to take a few minutes to thank all of you as a group for being so supportive, not only to me, but to each other. It means a great deal to me to know that there are so many great minds seated around this table, & that I am associated with such a uniquely ambitious, and specifically talented sort of fellowship. In fact, I have learned one very important thing, and that is: Personal learning and expanding upon the knowledge that you already have, truly comes from sharing information with others in your particular field of study. We have been able to share not only with the students, but also with the educators and doctors with whom we have had the privilege of working over the last two years.

I just wanted to share with you how great I feel having completed my BScPod. I have always loved doing pedicures and have built some great, loyal relationships with my clients based on how much I put into trying to find some answers to their foot care needs. I now have a rich accumulation of knowledge and answers to their questions, as well as qualified solutions to some of their problems. That is very liberating! One of the best experiences was working in the diabetic clinic in St. Kitts, as this was a very unique, eye opening experience. It made me realize how much we can help and how necessary educated, competent people are in this field. It was also a delight to be told that there are tremendous opportunities for B.Sc. Pod. graduates in other parts of the world, particularly in the Caribbean.
Thank you for making this course possible. I am honored to be one of the first graduates of the Bachelor of Science program with NASP and am looking forward to being a part of this growing this profession..

This education has made me a more confident professional. I am better able to recognize abnormalities on the foot and talk professionally while instructing my clients on homecare.
The level of respect that I receive from my clients has changed. It started by seeing my C.Pod on the wall and continued from there. Upon hearing that I was doing case studies, I had more and more people come out of the wood work. They wanted to see what I could do for them. Knowing that my case studies had to be presented to doctors gave the clients the confidence to let me do ‘my thing’.
My ability to talk intelligently about gait, fungal nails and feet, footwear - good and bad, orthotics, etc. has given my clients a new respect for me. I just don’t paint toes anymore! I had one of my clients, who is a Family Physician ask me about a nail,” Is it fungal or what?” I was happy to tell her” it’s just a formaldehyde burn”. Her thought for asking me was that I see a lot more fungus at different stages of growth, than she does.
This experience has changed my life, my cliental and my future. I am now helping people improve their feet, which to them, improves their life.

On the way home from the residency, I sat beside a physician from Calgary AB who asked me for the difference between a Podiatrist and a C.Pod / CMP. I was able to explain that a C.Pod / CMP gives a professional pedicure, offering a full foot & lower limb evaluation, gait analysis, etc. We began discussing how the type of orthotics I have differ from the conventional ones. I explained that mine support the talus, allowing proper alignment of the tibia and fibula, etc, all the way up. The orthotics also help re-train the muscles so they are exercised and are able to hold form better. She also wanted to know if there is a C.Pod in the Calgary area for her own use & to whom she can refer patients. Thanks to Dr. Aust and the other educators for teaching us correct medical terminology, I was able to intelligently discuss the effects of Diabetes on the body, and what I really got from the residency was the scope of how diabetes affects the nerves.
This program has helped me become more confident when speaking to others, even if they turn out to be MD's!

I feel honoured to be an integral part of the fantastic educator team of NASP. The knowledge level and practical abilities of the graduating students are impressive. For me personally, the most satisfying part of my work during the residency was watching how the students took advantage of the program to multiply their skills while working in the diabetic clinic, and how hungry they were to know more as they exchanged experiences with each other and the educators during the debriefing sessions. At that point I knew: This is the ultimate program ever! I look forward to going to St. Kitts again next year.
